An intensive residential program

 

Description

 

This intensive week of education, conducted in residence, engages participants with a cohort of colleagues and experts to address essential skills and topics related to successful practice as a Nurse Manager. Learning occurs through innovative large and small group activities and interactive presentations facilitated by expert faculty. Nurse Manager Academy includes self-assessment and action planning for personal leadership development; skill-building in facilitating change, conflict management, and negotiation; and practical strategies for performance and financial management. This provider-directed program has been approved for 27.5 contact hours of continuing nursing education. This program develops leadership skills and provides practical strategies for Nurse Managers in a unique residential format. The academy combines opportunities for self-reflection and assessment with highly interactive group sessions built around work situations.

 

How to Use This Tool

 

It has been well-documented that effective managers with good management and supervision skills have a positive impact on employee retention.  This is especially true in a high-stress setting like long-term care.  This educational academy is available to nurse managers who want an opportunity to enhance their skills as supervisors in home and residential care.
