National Nursing Assistants’ Week is held each year to celebrate and honor the hard work of all Nursing Assistants, who are important providers in various healthcare settings. Each day of National Nursing Assistant’s Week addresses a different essential aspect of their “art” of caregiving, including respect, wisdom, and honoring differences. Nursing Assistants’ Week provides a timely opportunity to join together to foster respect in the health care settings for workers, residents, and clients across the country.

How to Use This Tool

Employee recognition programs have been evaluated over the years and proven to enhance employee motivation, satisfaction, productivity, and contribute to improved organizational performance. This program is an annual recognition event that can be celebrated in each facility in ways that best suit the organization. Recognition programs are especially important for direct care workers, whose jobs are often poorly compensated. Research has established that these programs are most successful when they are integrated, multi-faceted, and multi-tiered. This means that recognition should be intended to support and value employees, available for a wide variety of achievements and contributions; and presented at different levels depending on the significance of the accomplishment.
